The accident occurred around 16:30 on Istanbul Street at the Topçu Troop Barracks location. According to information obtained, a truck traveling from the direction of Manisa towards Izmir, which was assessed to have experienced brake failure based on initial findings, went out of the driver's control and crossed into the opposite lane. The out-of-control truck crashed into 10 vehicles coming from the opposite direction, including a police service vehicle.

Upon notification, numerous health, fire, and police teams were dispatched to the area. Health teams' checks determined that the truck driver and one person lost their lives at the scene. Police officer Serkan Hızlı, who was in critical condition and was taken to the hospital with severe injuries, could not be saved despite all interventions and became a martyr. Treatment continues at hospitals for a total of 5 injured people, including one police officer in serious condition.
