The incident occurred around 18:30 on Sakindere Street in Bağlık neighborhood. Those who saw the fire in the children's park notified the 112 Emergency Call Center. Upon the notification, a fire brigade team dispatched to the address extinguished the flames by spraying water.

The moment the flames grew was recorded by a resident of a nearby apartment building with a mobile phone camera. The camera recording shows the children setting the slide on fire and fleeing as the flames grew. The police investigation determined that three children, aged 10-12, had set the slide on fire, claiming they were 'cold'.
