For travel and accommodation expenses, the installment period can extend up to 18 months.
The Ministry of Trade has determined the installment periods to be applied to sales by promissory note and similar purchases other than credit cards, shopping loans, and consumer financing. With the new regulation, the maturity limits to be applied to television, white goods, computer, tablet, furniture, travel, and accommodation expenses have become clear.
INSTALLMENT LIMIT BY PRICE FOR TELEVISIONS
According to the new regulation, the number of installments in television purchases will vary depending on the product's sale price. For televisions priced below 5,000 liras, installments of up to 9 months can be made. According to Milliyet's report, for televisions with a sale price above 5,000 liras, the installment period will be at most 4 months.
9-MONTH INSTALLMENTS FOR WHITE GOODS AND SMALL HOUSEHOLD APPLIANCES
In the sales of refrigerators, washing machines, and small electrical household appliances, installments of up to 9 months can be applied regardless of the product's price. Thus, in these product groups, the installment period will not vary according to the sale price, unlike televisions.
6-MONTH LIMIT FOR TABLETS AND COMPUTERS
Installment periods have also been determined for technological products. In tablet and computer purchases, installments of up to 6 months can be made. The 6-month limit set will apply to purchases of these products carried out through sales by promissory note and similar methods.
9-MONTH MATURITY FOR FURNITURE PURCHASES
The installment period has also become clear for consumers who want to renovate their home or buy new furniture. In furniture purchases, installments of up to 9 months will be allowed.
18-MONTH INSTALLMENTS FOR TRAVEL AND ACCOMMODATION
In the new regulation, one of the longest installment periods has been set for travel and accommodation expenses. Consumers will be able to pay off their expenses within this scope in up to 18 installments.
DOES NOT COVER CREDIT CARD PURCHASES
The installment limits determined by the Ministry of Trade do not cover purchases made with credit cards, shopping loans, or consumer financing transactions.
The new rules will apply to purchases carried out through sales by promissory note and similar methods. For financing transactions provided through credit cards and banks, the relevant legislation and the limits determined by the Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency will continue to apply.
