In Sarıyer, a driver who allegedly pressed the gas pedal instead of the brake fell into the sea with his car. While the accident of the driver, who managed to escape from the vehicle by himself, was captured on a mobile phone camera, the words of the person who called 112, "The point where the man sank is very nice, right across the bridge view," drew attention.
A car fell into the sea in the Rumeli Kavağı Coast of Istanbul's Sarıyer district at around 00:45, after the driver allegedly hit the accelerator instead of the brake, losing control of the vehicle. The driver managed to get out of the car using his own means and reached the shore, while police, fire brigade, and medical teams were dispatched to the scene upon notification. It was learned that the driver's condition is good, and fire crews took precautions in the area. It was reported that the vehicle was removed from the sea with the help of a crane, and police have launched an investigation into the incident.
"DAD, THE CAR IS SINKING, IT'S GOING DOWN"
A witness recorded the incident with a mobile phone camera. In the footage, the person who noticed the car falling into the sea is initially heard saying, "The car is gone, what a waste of a car." After the witness states that the accident occurred in Rumeli Kavağı, the footage shows someone claiming the driver might be drunk and urging others to call the police.
As the car begins to take on water, the panicked person shouts, "Dad, the car is sinking, it's going down," and requests that the fire department be called. Before the car is submerged, he says, "Son, it's sinking, I swear it's sinking," and after the vehicle disappears from sight, he exclaims, "The car has sunk," all captured in the mobile phone footage.
"THE SINKING SPOT IS VERY NICE, FACING THE BRIDGE VIEW"
In the continuation of the footage, the person calling the 112 Emergency Call Center on his mobile phone reports that a car has fallen into the sea at the entrance of Rumeli Kavağı. When the operator asks, 'Where did it fall?', he first says, 'Facing the view,' and then, pointing to the seaside at the entrance of Rumeli Kavağı, he says, 'The spot where the man sank is very nice, look, it's right facing the bridge view.' The person, who checks on a map and describes the address to the operators, is also heard saying at the end of the call that the car has completely sunk, as seen in the footage.
