Reports that US President Donald Trump secretly changed his plane before his flight from Ankara to England on his way back from the NATO Summit due to a security threat originating from Iran have taken on a new dimension. Iran's Embassy in Armenia shared the developments reported in the US press on its social media account, targeting Trump with a mocking video.
The details of the secret flight plan implemented during US President Donald Trump's passage from Turkey to England following the NATO Summit held in Ankara on July 7-8 have become a hot topic after reports published in the US press. It was reported that Trump, due to a possible assassination threat originating from Iran, left the old Air Force One and transferred to a smaller military aircraft, the C-32A.
HIDDEN IN A FOOD TRUCK
According to the Washington Post report, on July 8, following the NATO Summit in Ankara, Trump boarded the old Air Force One in front of cameras. However, shortly after, he secretly moved to a truck located on the other side of the presidential aircraft, used for transporting food and supplies to planes.
It was stated that the vehicle, raised by its hydraulic system up to the aircraft's door, carried Trump and some of his close aides, and then headed towards the C-32A type military aircraft at the airport. Thus, Air Force One was used almost as a "decoy plane" to conceal the location of the aircraft carrying Trump.
Journalists and some White House staff members, unaware of Trump's actual flight, thought the president was on Air Force One and departed for England on the same plane. Journalists were also told to keep the window shades closed during the flight.
IRAN THREAT CITED AS REASON
It was reported that the operation was carried out following a credible assassination threat against Trump originating from Iran. After the reports in the US press, Trump confirmed the incident, stating that the Secret Service and the military requested him to switch to a different aircraft.
Trump stated that he did not question the details of the threat much, adding that there are numerous threats against him. He also mentioned that the plane he was originally on might have been more likely to be targeted.
MOCKING POST FROM THE IRANIAN EMBASSY
Following the events, the Iranian Embassy in Armenia also shared the Washington Post report on its social media account, bringing Trump's secret flight to the agenda. The Embassy added a mocking video to its post, referencing Trump's transfer between planes using a food truck.
In the video, Trump is seen crouched among crates of fruit and vegetables in a truck with a license plate reading "Top Secret."
This post was evaluated as a new example showing that the tension between the US and Iran continues not only in the diplomatic and military fields but also in the propaganda war waged through social media.
