Reports that Yasin Oyanık, known on social media as “Ankara Abisi” and founder of the Ankara Abisi Charity Association, has been detained remain on the agenda.
STATEMENTS CAME ONE AFTER ANOTHER
While it is alleged that Oyanık was detained as part of an investigation conducted in Uşak on suspicion of illegal money transfers and money laundering, no statement has yet been made by official authorities regarding the content of the investigation. Social media influencer Cem Özkök, who carries out joint aid activities with Oyanık, and Su Kulaçatan, known as “Istanbul Ablası” (Istanbul Sister), made separate statements.
“IT IS TRUE THAT HE IS DETAINED, BUT...”
Su Kulaçatan, who conducts joint aid activities with Yasin Oyanık, reacted to the accusations on social media. When asked about the source of the news, Kulaçatan used the following statements: “To get ahead of news like ‘he spent it with his girlfriend,’ ‘I don't know what happened,’ ‘he got involved in dirty money,’ there is already no official statement made at the moment. I mean, it is true that he is detained, but as I said, there has not yet been any official statement.”
AFTER A WHILE, SHE BACKTRACKED
In a later statement, Kulaçatan stated that she did not directly receive the detention information, and included the following statements: “There is nothing. In other words, I did not receive information that he was detained either. My guesses are also in this direction; let me mention that to you as well, so there is no misunderstanding here.”
EM ÖZKÖK: WE WERE ASKED NOT TO MAKE A STATEMENT
Another person involved in aid activities with Yasin Oyanık, Cem Özkök, also made a post on October 11 and used the following statements: At the ‘personal request’ of Yasin and his lawyer, at this stage we were asked not to make any statement on the matter, not to make one.”
An official statement to be made by the police and judicial authorities regarding the matter is awaited with curiosity.
