A striking claim has emerged following a veiled reference to Turkey by US Ambassador to Ankara Tom Barrack regarding Israel. It has been alleged that Israel decided to halt intelligence sharing because of Barrack's remarks praising Turkey's strengthened position and President Erdogan's efforts to de-escalate tensions, including his statements that "the Turkish army is strong, brave, very well-equipped, and knows what it is doing."
It has been claimed that the Israeli administration decided to halt intelligence sharing with the US Ambassador to Ankara and Special Representative for Syria and Iraq, Tom Barrack, due to his "anti-Israel stance."
ISRAEL IS UPSET WITH BARRACK
According to a report by the Maariv newspaper, a senior Israeli political source stated that the Tel Aviv administration is upset with Barrack, who condemned Israel's August 18 attack on the dormant Abu Zuhur Military Airbase in Syria's Idlib province and demanded Turkey's inclusion in the Gaza issue.
"THEY STOPPED INTELLIGENCE SHARING"
The source said the decision to halt intelligence sharing was made because Barrack is "not on Israel's side."
The report noted that the Tel Aviv administration is increasingly concerned about the erosion of the longstanding US commitment to Israel's security, adding that this concern stems not only from US President Donald Trump losing patience with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu but also from the stance of Barrack, who plays a significant role in Israel-Syria talks.
It was also previously alleged that Barrack had been described as someone advocating a line insufficiently sensitive to Israel's security needs, at times speaking in a tone that evoked distance or even hostility, and that Netanyahu even viewed him as "a hostile element."
