The Israeli army has launched a large-scale ground operation in the north and south of Gaza. Recently, Israel announced a new operation called "Gideon's Chariots," signaling that the operation in Gaza would be expanded.

The Israeli army announced that it has launched a large-scale ground operation in the north and south of Gaza. In a statement, Israel Defense Forces (IDF) Spokesperson Avichai Adrai said, "In recent days, active and reserve forces of the Defense Forces have initiated a comprehensive ground operation in the north and south of the Gaza Strip as part of Gideon's Chariots Operation."

The IDF had announced that in the operation named "Gideon's Chariots," it was conducting extensive attacks to "establish operational control in the Gaza areas and mobilizing troops." In the announcement following a wave of attacks that led to the deaths of hundreds, Israel signaled that the operation in Gaza would be expanded.

THE ARMY'S GOAL IS PERMANENT OCCUPATION

It is claimed that the operation aims to "make the occupation permanent." Israel's ongoing heavy bombardment and ground assaults mean the collective punishment, displacement, and systematic destruction of a people.

FUEL CRISIS IN GAZA

A written statement from the Civil Defense Directorate emphasized that the institution is facing serious difficulties in fulfilling its humanitarian duties. The statement said, "In an environment where Israel's intense airstrikes and targeting of civilian homes continue, we are becoming unable to respond to citizens' calls for help. Because we do not have enough fuel, heavy rescue equipment, spare parts, and materials to repair vehicles."

"SERVICES MAY CEASE WITHIN 72 HOURS"

The statement noted that 75% of the vehicles in the Gaza Strip are at risk of becoming inoperable, stating, "The fuel crisis is deepening day by day. The occupying Israel does not even allow the entry of the minimum fuel necessary for basic humanitarian needs. Due to fuel shortages, our services may cease within 72 hours."

CURRENT SITUATION IN GAZA

The Gaza Strip has been facing a severe humanitarian disaster since Israel closed all its border crossings on March 2. With the complete blockade of food, medicine, aid, and fuel, the Israeli army has intensified its systematic massacres against Palestinian civilians.

While Israel has intensified its genocidal attacks, especially in the last 15 days, numerous massacres were carried out immediately after U.S. President Donald Trump's promise of "a better future for the people of Gaza and an end to hunger" during his visit to the region last week.

Since October 7, 2023, with the support of the U.S., approximately 174,000 Palestinians, mostly women and children, have been killed or injured in the genocidal attacks carried out by Israel in Gaza. More than 11,000 people are still missing.

In Gaza, which has been under blockade for 18 years, about 1.5 million of the 2.4 million population are homeless, while the local population is struggling with a severe hunger crisis.
