Within the scope of the fund investigation in the capital markets, former Borsa Istanbul General Manager Korkmaz Enes Ergun, who was detained on October 31, was arrested by the court he was brought before on the grounds that he accepted a bribe in exchange for accelerating the opening of Destek Faktoring shares to share repo transactions.

Within the scope of the fund investigation conducted into transactions carried out in the capital markets, former General Manager of Borsa İstanbul AŞ Korkmaz Enes Ergun, who was detained on October 31, was arrested on the charge of "taking bribes" at the courthouse to which he was referred. It was determined that Ergun took bribes in exchange for not further delaying the opening of Destek Faktoring shares to share repo transactions.

The prosecutor's referral letter regarding Ergun, who was arrested within the scope of the investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, has been obtained. In the letter, which stated that while Ergun was performing his duty as General Manager of Borsa İstanbul, the matter of the shares of the company named Destek Faktoring being subject to share repo was delayed even though they entered the BIST 50 index, it was noted that under normal conditions, shares in the BIST 50 and BIST 30 indices (traded on the Yıldız Market) should be opened to share repo immediately.

"SUSPECTS EXPLICITLY STATED IN THEIR STATEMENTS"

In the letter, it was said, "Nevertheless, the fact that the subjecting of the shares of the company named Destek Faktoring to share repo was delayed, and that in return for opening the Destek Faktoring shares to share repo so that the delay would not last longer, a bribe was given to the suspect Korkmaz Ergun, has been explicitly stated in the statements of the other suspects within the scope of the investigation."

STATEMENTS FOUND CONSISTENT

Thus, in the letter, which stated that the suspicion of destruction of evidence regarding the suspect already exists, it was noted that the statements made about Ergun were consistent and that the judicial control provisions to be applied would also be insufficient at this stage.

In the letter, it was conveyed that, considering the mutually consistent statements made about the suspect, the suspension for a period of the matter of subjecting the shares of the company named Destek Faktoring to share repo demonstrated the existence of strong suspicion of crime that the suspect committed the offense attributed to him, and that for these reasons there were grounds for arrest.

ARRESTED FOR BRIBERY

In the letter, for these reasons, the arrest of the suspect was requested, taking into account the qualification and nature of the offense attributed to him, the current state of evidence, and the maximum penalty prescribed by law for the offense. Ergun, who was detained on October 31 within the scope of the investigation, was arrested on the charge of "taking bribes" at the courthouse to which he was referred after his procedures at the police station.
