Good Party Chairman Müsavat Dervişoğlu visited the parents of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, who is detained in Silivri Prison on the last day of the holiday. After the visit, Dervişoğlu made statements and gave messages of support to the İmamoğlu family.
Good Party Chairman Müsavat Dervişoğlu visited the mother and father of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor and CHP presidential candidate Ekrem İmamoğlu, who is detained in Silivri Marmara Prison, on the last day of the holiday. Stating that the purpose of the visit was to show that the İmamoğlu family is not alone, Dervişoğlu met with the family for a while.
"WE WANTED TO SHOW THAT THE İMAMOĞLU FAMILY IS NOT ALONE"
In addition to Good Party Deputy Chairmen Buğra Kavuncu and Burak Dalgın, Istanbul Provincial Chairman Yücel Coşkun and party members also attended the holiday visit. Dervişoğlu, who was greeted by Ekrem İmamoğlu's father Hasan İmamoğlu, kissed the hands of both father İmamoğlu and mother Hava İmamoğlu.
After meeting with the family for about an hour, Dervişoğlu made statements.
Dervişoğlu said, "The reason I am here today is solely to show that the İmamoğlu family is not alone. We know how difficult it is for people to be separated from their children during holidays. I wish everyone to be with their loved ones in the upcoming holidays."
HARSH REACTION TO THE ÖCALAN CONTROVERSY
Answering journalists' questions after the visit, Dervişoğlu also reacted to the statements of DEM Party Van Deputy and TBMM Deputy Speaker Pervin Buldan, who suggested that terrorist organization PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan could review the draft laws related to the process.
Arguing that such an approach is unacceptable, Dervişoğlu said, "Portraying a terrorist convict as having a say over draft laws would cast a shadow over the will of the Turkish Grand National Assembly. I consider this initiative as an attempt to appoint a trustee to the Turkish Grand National Assembly."
VISITED THE TOMB OF CONQUEROR MEHMED
Following his visit to the İmamoğlu family, Dervişoğlu and his accompanying delegation also visited the Tomb of Sultan Mehmed the Conqueror inside the Fatih Mosque. Greeted with intense interest by citizens, Dervişoğlu left the tomb after praying.
