THEY HAVE BEEN SEEKING JUSTICE FOR 11 YEARS
Citizens who stated that they were victimized after investing in the Caprice Gold Bayrampaşa project came together to get their rights back. At the protest attended by members of the Caprice Gold Investors Association, demands regarding the current status of the building were voiced. In his statement, the victims' lawyer, Süha Cansız, noted that they had been fighting to seek their rights for 11 years and said, "For 11 years, we have worked shoulder to shoulder here to preserve and defend this building as if it were a fortress. At the same time, by carrying the legal fight to the end, we thwarted all the schemes set up by Jet Fadıl and protected our building. We filed and won title deed cancellation lawsuits regarding the properties he registered in other people's names by smuggling assets away. In the beginning, we prevented those who committed crimes in the long-running trials in the Turkish judicial system for years from being acquitted by taking advantage of the statute of limitations. We fought for Jet Fadıl to receive a prison sentence of 2,504 years, and he received that sentence. He is currently detained in prison," he said.
I HAVE LOST EVERYTHING HERE
Talip Metehanoğlu, one of the victims, stated that he lost all his savings due to his investment in the project and demanded that the building be expropriated by the state. Metehanoğlu said, "Whatever was offered, we never sat down to any settlement with them. However, we want this place to be expropriated by the state. I have lost everything here."
