Foreign ministers from eight countries, including Turkey, issued a joint statement condemning Israel's violations in Jerusalem and the Al-Aqsa Mosque. The statement emphasized that the raids and provocative actions are contrary to international law and stressed the need to preserve Jerusalem's status. The ministers also reacted to Israel's settlement policies and called for a two-state solution and support for the rights of the Palestinian people.

The foreign ministers of Türkiye, Egypt, Jordan, Indonesia, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) condemned the repeated violations by the Israeli occupation authorities against the historical and legal status of Jerusalem's Muslim and Christian holy sites, the ongoing raids on Al-Aqsa Mosque, and the raising of the Israeli flag in its courtyard.

JOINT STATEMENT ISSUED

A joint statement was issued by the foreign ministers of Türkiye, Egypt, Jordan, Indonesia, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE.

In the statement, the foreign ministers condemned "the repeated violations by the Israeli occupation authorities against the historical and legal status of Jerusalem's Muslim and Christian holy sites, particularly the ongoing raids by Israeli settlers and extremist ministers, accompanied by Israeli police protection, on Al-Aqsa Mosque/ Al-Haram Al-Sharif, and the raising of the Israeli flag in its courtyard."

EMPHASIS ON INTERNATIONAL LAW

The statement said, "The ministers reiterated that these provocative acts at Al-Aqsa Mosque/ Al-Haram Al-Sharif constitute a clear violation of international law and international humanitarian law, and represent an unacceptable provocation to Muslims worldwide and a blatant violation of the sanctity of the holy city."

EMPHASIS ON THE STATUS OF JERUSALEM

The statement noted that the ministers categorically rejected any attempt to alter the historical and legal status of Jerusalem and its Muslim and Christian holy sites, affirmed that this status must be preserved, and recognized the historical special role of the Hashemite custodianship in this context, stating:

"The ministers reiterated that the entire 144-dunum area of Al-Aqsa Mosque/ Al-Haram Al-Sharif is a place of worship solely for Muslims, and that the Jerusalem Waqf and Al-Aqsa Mosque Affairs Department, under the Jordanian Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, is the sole legal authority with exclusive jurisdiction to manage the operation of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque/ Al-Haram Al-Sharif and regulate entry to it."

MESSAGE: "ISRAEL HAS NO SOVEREIGNTY"

The statement further noted that the ministers condemned the accelerated illegal settlement activities, including Israel's decision to approve over 30 new settlement units, which constitute a grave violation of international law, including United Nations Security Council resolutions and the 2024 advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice.

The statement indicated that the ministers also condemned the ongoing and escalating settler violence against Palestinians, including recent attacks on Palestinian schools and Palestinian children in the occupied West Bank, and called for accountability of the perpetrators. The statement said, "The ministers emphasized that Israel has no sovereignty over the occupied Palestinian territories. The ministers categorically rejected any steps aimed at annexing the occupied Palestinian territories or displacing the Palestinian people."

TWO-STATE SOLUTION AND INTERNATIONAL CALL

The statement highlighted that the ministers stressed that such acts constitute a deliberate and direct assault on the viability of the State of Palestine and the implementation of the two-state solution, heightening tensions, undermining peace efforts, and impeding ongoing initiatives aimed at de-escalation and restoring stability. It shared, "The ministers reiterated their call on the international community to fulfill its legal and moral responsibilities and to compel Israel to halt the dangerous escalation and end its illegal practices in the occupied West Bank."

MESSAGE OF SUPPORT FOR PALESTINE

The ministers reiterated their unwavering support for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people. The statement noted that the ministers called on the international community to assume its responsibilities and take a clear and decisive stance to stop these violations. It also recorded that they called on the international community to intensify all regional and international efforts to advance a political solution based on the two-state solution in order to achieve comprehensive peace.

The statement included the following expression: "The ministers reiterated their unwavering support for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, including the right to self-determination and the realization of an independent State of Palestine on the borders of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital."
