The 3,000-meter-high Karabet Pass, which connects Van and the Bahçesaray district and where difficult transportation conditions are experienced in the winter months due to its high altitude, was covered in white with the first snowfall of the season. After the snowfall, Highway teams, who started work in the region, carried out snow-clearing work to ensure that transportation on the road was not disrupted.

One of the strategic routes connecting Van and the Bahçesaray district, the 3,000-meter-high Karabet Pass, one of Turkey's highest points, has turned white with the season's first snowfall.

IT CREATED POSTCARD-LIKE VIEWS

As air temperatures dropped below seasonal norms, the rain that made its effect felt in high areas gave way to snowfall in high-altitude regions. The 3,000-meter-high Karabet Pass was quickly covered with snow, creating postcard-like views.

MEASURES WERE TAKEN IN THE REGION

With the start of snowfall, teams from the 11th Van Regional Directorate of Highways took measures in the region. To prevent drivers from experiencing grievances and to ensure no disruption in transportation, the teams quickly initiated snowfighting and road-clearing work in the region.

WARNING TO DRIVERS

Authorities warned drivers who will pass through the region to keep winter tires and chains in their vehicles and to travel in a controlled manner, paying attention to weather and road conditions. Highways teams continue salting and snowplowing work in the region to keep the road open to traffic.
