Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, who returned to the position of party chair after the court issued an absolute nullity decision in the case regarding CHP's 38th Ordinary Convention, has taken action against Özgür Özel. Kılıçdaroğlu submitted a three-page petition to the Turkish Grand National Assembly Presidency, requesting the annulment of the election where Özel became the TBMM Group Chair.
Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, who returned to the CHP Chairmanship with the court's "absolute nullity" decision, has launched a move against Özgür Özel's election as TBMM Group Chair. Kılıçdaroğlu submitted a 3-page petition to the TBMM Presidency requesting the annulment of Özgür Özel's group chairmanship election.
On the other hand, according to TGRT News Ankara Representative Fatih Atik, who spoke with former leader Kılıçdaroğlu, Kılıçdaroğlu's team met with the parliament administration and conveyed that the "group chairmanship" title under which Özgür Özel was recently elected is legally invalid. Accordingly, it is stated that Özel will not be able to use this title and its powers after the holiday.
ÖZGÜR ÖZEL WAS ELECTED GROUP CHAIRMAN
The CHP TBMM closed group meeting was held at CHP Headquarters under the chairmanship of Özgür Özel following the absolute nullity decision. 96 deputies attended the meeting. The election of the CHP TBMM Group Chairman was held during the meeting. In a written statement from CHP, it was said, "Özgür Özel was re-elected as CHP TBMM Group Chairman with 95 votes of the 96 deputies who attended the closed group meeting. 1 vote was considered invalid. 15 deputies who could not attend the meeting due to illness, funeral, or being abroad also expressed their support for Özel."
"ÖZGÜR ÖZEL AND HIS TEAM'S PARTY MEMBERSHIP MAY BE SUSPENDED"
Atik said the following regarding the aforementioned allegations: "Kılıçdaroğlu has the authority to 'suspend' the party membership of many names, including Özgür Özel and 10 prominent deputies who have dragged the party into chaos. If this precautionary-like authority, which can be applied without waiting for any disciplinary process or report, comes into play, Özgür Özel and his team will not be able to participate in any party activities or exercise their delegate rights. It is rumored that the possibility of Kılıçdaroğlu using this authority is quite high."
"ÖZEL'S GROUP CHAIRMANSHIP TITLE WILL ALSO BE TAKEN AWAY"
Kılıçdaroğlu's team is meeting with the parliament administration. The Presidency said, 'This group chairmanship is invalid.' A correction will be made regarding the group chairman statement on the Parliament's website. After the holiday, a letter will be sent from the headquarters to the parliament, and he will not be able to use the group chairman title. Özel will vacate the office and return the cars. The Group Chairman debate will end. Either the Parliament will remove it, or a letter signed by Kılıçdaroğlu will be sent."
