North Korea unveiled next-generation UAVs and weapon systems at the 2026 Unmanned Aviation Technologies Development Exhibition. During a live-ammunition exercise, missiles hit targets with precision, while Kim Jong-un ordered the acceleration of artificial intelligence and UAV work. Kim drew attention with the words, "Peace can only be guaranteed through strength."
According to the North Korean administration's statement, the 2026 Unmanned Aviation Technologies Development Exhibition opened with a ceremony attended by country leader Kim Jong-un. The exhibition showcased multi-purpose UAVs, one-way attack UAVs, and advanced weapon systems.
Following the exhibition, a comprehensive firing exercise using live ammunition was conducted. Air-to-ground missiles, cruise missiles, and 600-millimeter multiple launch rocket systems were used in the exercise.
MISSILES HIT TARGETS WITH FULL ACCURACY
It was announced that the air-to-ground missiles and cruise missiles fired as part of the exercise hit a designated island target with full accuracy. In addition, the 600-millimeter multiple launch rocket system known as "Sniper" was fired in public for the first time.
KIM JONG-UN: PEACE CAN ONLY BE GUARANTEED THROUGH STRENGTH
Speaking after the exercise, North Korean leader Kim Jong-un drew attention to the importance of unmanned aerial vehicles in modern warfare conditions.
Noting that integrating UAV systems with advanced artificial intelligence technologies is one of the priority tasks in modernizing the army, Kim said, "Peace can only be guaranteed through strength. This is a necessity for survival in today's turbulent world."
HE GAVE INSTRUCTIONS FOR AI AND UAV TECHNOLOGIES
Kim Jong-un, who said that North Korea has achieved the status of a nuclear-armed state and made significant progress in modernizing conventional weapons, called for accelerating work in the defense industry.
Kim said, "Our scientists must now work with all their might to achieve outstanding results in the fields of defense-purpose UAV technologies and artificial intelligence."
Kim, who stated that his country will continue to strengthen its war deterrence, reiterated their determination to increase defense industry capacity.
NORTH KOREA FIRED 10 BALLISTIC MISSILES
Meanwhile, the South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff had announced that North Korea fired 10 short-range ballistic missiles toward the East Sea (Sea of Japan).
It was stated that the missiles were fired at around 12:30 local time from the Wonsan area on North Korea's east coast.
The Japanese Ministry of Defense, on the other hand, reported that the launched missiles fell into the sea outside Japan's exclusive economic zone.
