While walking on the road in Isparta, a young man who had an object stuck in his throat and was having difficulty breathing approached a nearby police officer and barely managed to say "Heimlich" to ask for help. The police officer's rapid intervention saved the young man's life.
A young person struggling to breathe after an object got lodged in their throat in Isparta was able to breathe again thanks to the Heimlich maneuver applied by a police officer.
THEY ASKED THE POLICE FOR HELP
In Isparta, one of two young people walking on Mimar Sinan Street, 1738 Sokak, began to have difficulty breathing due to an object stuck in their throat. Upon this, the young people turned to a nearby police vehicle and asked for help.
QUICK INTERVENTION SAVED A LIFE
Police officer Ahmet Onaç, assigned to the Motorcycle Unit Directorate of the Public Order Branch, applied the Heimlich maneuver to the young person who asked for help. After the intervention, the young person began to breathe comfortably as the object in their throat was dislodged.
THE INCIDENT WAS CAPTURED ON CAMERA
In the footage, the young person asking for help during the incident and the police officer's intervention were recorded by a security camera. Police officer Onaç told journalists that while they were on duty on the street that day, a person came to them and asked for help.
Stating that the young person's face was pale and they said "Heimlich", Onaç said, "When I understood the situation, I intervened on the young person with the Heimlich maneuver. After hitting their back, the child breathed a little."
"WE WORK FOR THE SAFETY OF CITIZENS"
Onaç, who stated that citizens in the vicinity also helped after the intervention, said the young person was taken to the restroom of a nearby hotel.
Emphasizing that first aid training is very important for their duties, Onaç said, "As the police force, we work to ensure the life and property safety of citizens."
