The action of a driver in Gaziantep, who hit the road with the license plate of his vehicle bearing the inscription 'Ülkü Ocakları Gaziantep Provincial Directorate', did not go unpunished. The images shared on social media quickly drew a strong reaction. Security forces took action. The driver was fined 140 thousand liras, and his vehicle was also banned from traffic for 30 days. Claims on social media that 'No action was taken' were denied.
A driver in Gaziantep who tried to show off by having the phrase "Ülkü Ocakları Gaziantep Provincial Directorate" printed on their license plate while driving faced both a heavy fine and the loss of their vehicle. The footage, recorded by another driver and shared on social media, quickly drew widespread backlash on digital platforms.
TEAMS TOOK ACTION
After the footage spread rapidly, teams from the Gaziantep Provincial Police Department's Traffic Enforcement Branch launched a comprehensive investigation into the matter. The teams, who meticulously reviewed camera recordings, quickly identified the vehicle's original license plate and the identity of the driver behind the wheel as a result of the follow-up.
LOST BOTH THE VEHICLE AND THE MONEY
Heavy sanctions were imposed on the driver, who clearly violated traffic regulations and jeopardized traffic safety by using a non-standard license plate. The vehicle in question was impounded and towed to a parking lot, banned from traffic for 30 days due to the use of a non-compliant license plate. The driver was also issued an administrative fine totaling 140,000 Turkish liras for violating traffic rules and official license plate standards.
CLAIMS OF "NO ACTION TAKEN" REFUTED
On social media platforms, it was claimed that no action was taken regarding the individual in question. The relevant units, making a statement on the matter, denied the claim.
In the statement, it was noted that necessary investigations were initiated by the relevant units following the posts, and the following statements were included:
"Based on the images in the social media post, the date and time of the vehicle's passage were identified, and the Traffic Control Center camera recordings were examined.
In the examination, it was determined that the vehicle, which passed the traffic camera in front of Oduncular Sitesi at 18:59, headed towards the ring road. Through the physical characteristics of the vehicle in the camera images and other checks conducted, the vehicle's actual registration plate and identity were identified.
As a result of the determinations, administrative action was taken against the vehicle, the vehicle was banned from traffic for 30 days, and a total administrative fine of 140,000 TL was imposed. Therefore, the claim that 'the authorities did not take any action on the matter' does not reflect the truth."
