STATEMENT FROM ASENSIO
The Spanish footballer stated that after the injury that prevented him from taking the field for the remainder of the season, he wanted to return early to help his team in line with their championship goal.
Here is Asensio's statement:
"At the end of last season, I suffered an injury that would keep me from playing for the rest of the season. Considering the importance of our championship goal, I truly believed that I could be on the field and help my team for the championship. Knowing that this could carry some risks for my health, I did my best to return earlier than expected and help.
I am someone who never gives up and always strives to the end.
In the last 3 weeks, my pain made it impossible for me to fight. So at this point we decided to stop and that it was time for surgery. I have had difficult, frustrating moments, but I am full of motivation, and from today on I am focused on working hard to get back on the field with my teammates in front of all our fans.
Thank you for the support you show every day and for this strength you give me.
See you soon, stronger than ever."
