Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek announced the balance sheet of the austerity measures implemented in the public sector for the 2024-2025 period. Şimşek stated that 484 billion TL in savings were achieved during this two-year period, noting that this figure exceeds the total budget allocated to six ministries for 2026.
The new figure regarding the fiscal equivalent of public sector savings measures was announced by Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek. Şimşek announced that a total of 484 billion TL was saved in 2024 and 2025 as a result of the measures implemented in public expenditures.
Minister Şimşek stated that the savings policy is not seen merely as a short-term practice, and that the goal is to establish a permanent expenditure discipline in public administration.
484 BILLION TL SAVED IN 2 YEARS
According to Mehmet Şimşek's statement, the total impact of public savings measures in the 2024-2025 period reached 484 billion TL.
Minister Şimşek said in his statement, "Our determination to save in the public sector is yielding results. Within the scope of the measures, we saved 484 billion TL in the 2024-2025 period. This amount exceeds the total 2026 budget of six ministries. We are using public resources more efficiently and making the savings approach permanent. We will continue to use the resources we obtain by strengthening expenditure discipline in priority areas."
