Journalist Feyza Gümüşdoğulu, known for her analyses on the Middle East, evaluated the NATO Leaders Summit held in Ankara for Haberler.com. Stating that the summit differs from previous NATO meetings in many respects, Gümüşdoğulu said the gathering in Ankara carries historical significance due to changing global security balances, debates over the US role within the alliance, and Turkey's increasing strategic importance. Gümüşdoğulu expressed that the decisions to be made at the summit will shape NATO's future roadmap.
"TURKEY'S IMPORTANCE WITHIN NATO HAS FURTHER INCREASED"
Drawing attention to the fact that the international conjuncture has changed significantly in recent years, Gümüşdoğulu stated that especially US President Donald Trump's approach to reducing financial and military support for NATO has brought about new searches within the alliance. Noting that Turkey's strategic position has become even more prominent in such a scenario, Gümüşdoğulu mentioned that the Russia-Ukraine War and developments in the Middle East have strengthened Ankara's indispensable role for NATO.

Emphasizing that the meeting held in Ankara should not be considered an ordinary NATO summit, Gümüşdoğulu pointed out that important decisions regarding the future of the alliance are on the table. Stating that significant messages regarding what kind of security policy NATO will follow in the new period, how member countries will act in the field of defense, and how the cooperation model will be shaped will be given at this summit, Gümüşdoğulu said, "The Ankara Summit carries traces that will guide NATO's future evolution. In this respect, we can say it is a more critical meeting than many past summits."
"THE ORGANIZATION IS EXTREMELY SUCCESSFUL"
Evaluating the organization of the summit, Gümüşdoğulu said the preparations have been carried out meticulously. The experienced journalist noted that the Presidential Complex was specially prepared for the summit, and emphasized that security measures are a natural part of NATO summits. Stating that it is normal for Ankara to take extensive security measures due to US President Donald Trump's attendance at the summit, Gümüşdoğulu recalled that this situation was also seen in other countries that previously hosted the summit.

Stating that he has not encountered any disruption in the organization process, Gümüşdoğulu said that the preparations have been successful, especially for the press members. Noting that the process has been carried out in a planned manner under the coordination of the Directorate of Communications, Gümüşdoğulu expressed that he has not seen any deficiencies he could criticize so far, and added that they will continue to closely follow the upcoming sessions of the summit.
