Health Minister Kemal Memişoğlu also attended the Midwives and Nurses Day Program held at the Ministry of Health Bilkent Campus. The program highlighted the selfless work of midwives and nurses in the healthcare system, and the Loyalty, Service, and Special Awards named after Safiye Hüseyin Elbi were presented to their recipients. Minister Memişoğlu stated that midwives and nurses not only provide treatment but also touch the souls of patients.
The Midwife and Nurses Day Program held at the Ministry of Health Bilkent Campus took place with the participation of Minister of Health Prof. Dr. Kemal Memişoğlu.
The Midwife and Nurses Day Program, organized by the General Directorate of Health Promotion, began with a moment of silence, the National Anthem, and a video presentation prepared for midwives and nurses who dedicate themselves to health services. During the program, the efforts of employees working with great dedication at all levels of health services in line with the vision of the "Healthy Türkiye Century" were commemorated with appreciation.
"WE RAISE OUR PROFESSION ON THE UNWAVERING FOUNDATIONS OF SCIENCE" In her speech at the program, Midwife Nilüfer Topkara emphasized that midwifery and nursing are professional disciplines blended with scientific knowledge. Topkara stated, "We are no longer just caregivers; we are professionals who research, produce, and add scientific depth to our health system. In line with the vision of the 'Healthy Türkiye Century,' we see contributing to the upbringing of strong generations through the Protective, Developmental, and Productive Health model as our most important responsibility."
Minister of Health Prof. Dr. Kemal Memişoğlu highlighted the deep-rooted place of midwives and nurses in our civilization. In his speech, he emphasized the importance of our midwives and nurses with the words, "In our civilization, caring for a patient is not just about treatment; it is about touching their soul, warming their heart, and being a source of morale. Our midwives and nurses are heroes who work selflessly from protecting health to managing treatment and care processes."
SAFİYE HÜSEYİN ELBİ AWARDS FOUND THEIR OWNERS In the award ceremony, one of the most meaningful parts of the program, awards were presented in the categories of Loyalty, Service, and Special Award, organized in the name of Safiye Hüseyin Elbi, one of Turkey's first nurses, to Midwife Ümit Dizdaroğlu, Nurse Ayşe Tekedereli, Midwife Zehra As, Nurse Fisun Çeken, Nurse Halit İnal, Nurse Nurgül Tekin, Midwife Özlem Mersin, Nurse Gizem Seferoğlu, and Midwife F. Nilüfer Topkara.
The program concluded with a family photo session featuring all our guests, midwives, and nurses.
