The forest fire that has been raging for hours in the Milas district of Muğla has put the tourism region on high alert. As flames approached residential areas and accommodation facilities, 350 hotels and 770 holiday resorts were evacuated; a total of 1,120 tourists and local residents in these facilities were transferred to safe zones. Governor İdris Akbıyık stated that 517 personnel continued ground firefighting efforts throughout the night to bring the fire under control.
A large-scale evacuation decision was made due to the forest fire that has been ongoing for hours in the Milas district of Muğla. As the flames approached residential areas, as a precaution, 350 hotels and 770 holiday resorts were evacuated, and a total of 1,120 people were transferred to safe zones. In the region, 517 personnel continue intervention from the ground, while aerial vehicles have been responding from the air throughout the day.
GOVERNOR AKBIYIK PROVIDES INFORMATION ON THE LATEST SITUATION
Muğla Governor İdris Akbıyık, in his statement at the fire zone, stated that the response to the fire in the Gürçamlar-Bozbük area continues uninterrupted. Governor Akbıyık said that due to the fire, which has been ongoing for approximately 8 hours, threatening tourism facilities, a comprehensive evacuation was carried out.
350 HOTELS AND 770 HOLIDAY RESORTS EVACUATED
Governor Akbıyık announced that a total of 1,120 people from 350 hotels and 770 holiday resorts in the region were evacuated as a precaution.
Akbıyık stated, "There are holiday resorts and hotels in the area. We have taken all necessary measures for the safety of our citizens. The evacuations were carried out in a controlled manner."
STRUGGLE AGAINST FLAMES CONTINUES WITH 517 PERSONNEL
During the daytime, 12 helicopters and 8 aircraft intervened from the air, while throughout the night, 517 personnel continued firefighting efforts from the ground.
Additionally, 62 water tankers, 29 water trucks, 11 bulldozers, 3 excavators, 6 initial response vehicles, 4 TOMAs, 4 ambulances, and numerous construction machines are operating in the field.
CAUSE OF THE FIRE UNDER INVESTIGATION
Governor Akbıyık stated that the cause of the fire has not yet been determined and said that gendarmerie teams have launched an investigation into the incident.
Authorities reported that efforts to bring the fire under control continue uninterrupted due to the effects of high temperature, low humidity, and wind in the region.
