Minister Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş, reminding that Meta's founder Mark Zuckerberg hides his child's face in social media posts, drew attention to the risks of digital platforms, asking, "So why are we not so sensitive about our children?" and invited families to sign the "Children's Rights Convention in the Digital World."

The Minister of Family and Social Services, Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş, invited citizens to sign the "Children's Rights Convention in the Digital World," which was prepared as a civil initiative and presented to the public. Göktaş emphasized the importance of the convention aimed at protecting children from the risks of the digital world.

Minister Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş highlighted the necessity of the convention with a video shared on her social media account. In her post, Göktaş stated that President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan was one of the first to sign the convention, expressing that their main goal is to protect children from the risks of the digital world and to raise them as conscious individuals.

With the video she shared, Göktaş called on parents, teachers, and children, drawing attention to the impact of digital platforms on children. Göktaş reminded that Mark Zuckerberg, the founder of Meta, hides his child's face in social media posts, asking, "So why are we not as sensitive about our children?"

Stating that the founder of Snapchat allows his child only 1.5 hours of screen time per week, Göktaş also recalled the words of the Netflix CEO, "Our biggest competitor is sleep." Göktaş emphasized that with these examples, digital platforms try to keep users on screens for longer, while technology company executives adopt a different approach for their own children.

Göktaş expressed that digital platforms need to become safer for children, stating that they are working to prevent children from encountering inappropriate content for their ages and communicating with unknown individuals on social media.

Göktaş mentioned that they also support various projects regarding the correct use of technology, expressing that they aim for children to establish a healthy relationship with technology through events such as Teknofest, DENEYAP workshops, TÜBİTAK competitions, and startup supports.
