Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek made a statement regarding forest fires. Minister Gürlek said, "In the investigations into 52 forest fires that have occurred since June 1, 2026, and for which legal proceedings were initiated, 34 suspects have been identified. Of these suspects, 9 have been arrested, and judicial control measures have been imposed on 14 suspects."
Justice Minister Akın Gürlek made a statement regarding the judicial processes carried out concerning forest fires. Minister Gürlek reported that a total of 34 suspects have been identified in the investigations conducted within the scope of 52 forest fires for which judicial proceedings have been initiated during this period.
Minister Gürlek's statement included the following: "We are closely and meticulously following the judicial processes regarding forest fires that threaten our Green Homeland. Under the monitoring of our Department of Natural Disasters and Accidents, in coordination with our Chief Public Prosecutor's Offices and relevant institutions, the causes of the fires and those responsible are being investigated in all aspects.
9 PEOPLE ARRESTED
In the investigations regarding 52 forest fires that have occurred since June 1, 2026, and for which judicial action has been taken, 34 suspects have been identified. Of these suspects, 9 have been arrested, and judicial control measures have been applied against 14 suspects.
Efforts are being carried out decisively to identify and bring to justice both those who intentionally set our forests on fire and those who caused fires through negligence or carelessness. No perpetrator of a forest fire with suspicion of a crime will be allowed to remain unknown."
