Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Murat Kurum announced that the duration of the Half from Us campaign, which was to end this year, has been extended until December 31, 2027. Speaking at the draw ceremony for 2,028 independent units in Pendik, Kurum said that due to the delay in the project, the discount to be made for beneficiaries has been increased from 40 percent to 60 percent, and that payments will be made in 180 monthly installments of 10 thousand lira per month.
In PENDİK, speaking at the lottery ceremony for 2,028 independent units completed in the first phase of the Orta and Dumlupınar Neighborhoods Urban Transformation Project, Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Murat Kurum said, "We always say that a possible Istanbul earthquake is a matter of national security and its only solution is urban transformation. Urban transformation is the most urgent need of both our country and our Istanbul, its most unpostponable solution."
The lottery draw for 2,028 independent units completed in the first phase of the Orta and Dumlupınar Neighborhoods Urban Transformation Project in Pendik was held with the participation of Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Murat Kurum. The ceremony, organized at the Yunus Emre Culture and Art Center, was attended by Minister Kurum as well as Istanbul Governor Davut Gül, AK Party Istanbul Provincial Chairman Abdullah Özdemir, Pendik Mayor Ahmet Cin and a large number of citizens. In the first phase of the project, implemented with earthquake-resistant buildings and social reinforcement areas, new residences for rights holders were determined by the lottery draw.
Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Murat Kurum said, "Today, in Dumlupınar and Orta Neighborhoods, we are adding a new link to this chain of services. In 45 blocks, we are drawing the lots for a total of 2,028 independent units, including 1,747 residences and 281 workplaces, one of Istanbul's largest urban transformation projects. At the same time, we are experiencing the excitement of giving you a historic piece of good news that has been awaited with longing for years in Batı Neighborhood, right in the heart of our district. We expropriated the private properties in the 23,000-square-meter Burla Brothers Grove located at the busiest point of Pendik center and completed the title deed registrations. Thus, we are transforming this unique natural heritage, whose ownership problem we have solved at its root, into a lush green living space where all our fellow citizens, our mothers, our fathers, and our young people will breathe, as the Pendik Central National Garden. I say may it be auspicious in advance."
ISTANBUL EARTHQUAKE WARNING
Minister Kurum used the statements, "Behind every transformation we carry out in Istanbul is a reality that reminds us of our responsibility. Earthquakes. An earthquake does not tell us, 'I am coming on this day at this hour,' it does not send a calendar, it does not give a time. So what is our duty? To be ready before the earthquake comes. We always say that a possible Istanbul earthquake is a matter of national security and its only solution is urban transformation. Urban transformation is the most urgent need of both our country and our Istanbul, its most unpostponable solution. With this awareness, we are implementing one of the two urban transformation projects we are currently carrying out for our beloved Istanbul. To date in Istanbul, we have completed the transformation of 1 million 298 thousand homes, and our work continues in 291 thousand independent units. Especially at this point, the support of our citizens is very important."
THE "HALF OF IT FROM US" SUPPORT HAS BEEN EXTENDED TO THE END OF 2027
Minister Kurum used the statements, "We have taken every step to encourage our citizens to undertake urban transformation under the leadership of our esteemed President. Here is our Half of It from Us campaign. With this project, we are providing a major source of funding to those who want to transform their homes. Today, there are exactly 545 thousand independent units for which we have initiated the transformation process solely within the scope of our Half of It from Us Campaign. In other words, with this project alone, we will have brought more than 2 million of our citizens in Istanbul to safe homes. Of course, when demand is this great, what fell to us was to continue this campaign. We submitted it to our esteemed President. In order that no citizen of ours be deprived of this great support, we are extending the support that would normally end this year until December 31, 2027. On this occasion, I want to address all my Istanbul brothers and sisters once again. If you doubt the safety of your building, do not wait. Talk to your neighbors, reach an agreement, and benefit from these historic opportunities offered by our state."
Minister Kurum said, "The compass of our politics is clear. It is the prayers of our citizens, the peace of our nation, and the survival of our state. We will not deviate from this direction. There will be difficulties, troubles will be experienced. Just as we have stood firm and overcome every difficulty to this day, under the leadership of our esteemed President, we will work for Istanbul, toil for Turkey, and continue the march of a great and strong Turkey with you again."
THE DISCOUNT BECAME 60 PERCENT, INSTALLMENTS 10 THOUSAND LIRA PER MONTH
Minister Kurum said, "I also want to give you some good news regarding the urban transformation project here. Of course, in 2023, despite all the obstacles, we said we would carry out this project, and, thank God, together with our Pendik Mayor, we demonstrated this will so that you could live in a safer, more peaceful city, in residences, in homes, and from that day on we carried out our project with determination. Yes, earthquakes occurred, we experienced many difficulties during this process, but, thank God, today we are experiencing the happiness of keeping our word. We will not bring any additional cost to our citizens due to the delay here. I am saying this at the outset. As you know, under the contract we were to make a 40 percent discount on the costs, and our citizens were to pay the remainder over 180 months. We are increasing the discount due to this delay to 60 percent. At present, the amount our citizens had to pay from the costs was normally 2.5 million lira. We are reducing the debt to an average of 1 million 900 thousand lira, and you will pay your debts in 180 monthly installments of 10 thousand lira. I say may it be auspicious, I say enjoy your new homes."
