Justice Minister Yılmaz Tunç commented on the tent protest held in front of the Ministry of Justice by CHP deputy Mahmut Tanal, saying, "Mr. Mahmut has staged his protest in the wrong place. We are restoring the Supreme Court building. Our building is at the back. If he had come directly to the office, we would have offered him tea and food there. If he had informed us, I would have invited him to the ministry."

CHP Şanlıurfa Deputy Mahmut Tanal has started a protest by setting up a tent in front of the Ministry of Justice for the students who were arrested during the protests that began after the arrest of the suspended İBB President Ekrem İmamoğlu. Tanal stated, "I will keep vigil in front of the Ministry of Justice all night for the unjustly and unlawfully arrested youth." Justice Minister Yılmaz Tunç spoke about Tanal's tent protest while answering questions from reporters before the AK Party group meeting.
"IF HE HAD COME TO THE OFFICE, WE WOULD HAVE OFFERED HIM TEA AND FOOD"
Expressing that Tanal was protesting in the wrong place, Tunç said, "Mr. Mahmut has protested in the wrong place, not in front of the Ministry of Justice building. We are restoring the Supreme Court building. That will be the new service building of the Ministry of Justice. Our building is at the back. That’s why we couldn’t see Mr. Mahmut. We definitely do not want him to get wet in that rain. If he had come directly to the office, we would have offered him tea and food there. Would we want him to be a victim all night in that cold, under the rain, inside the tent? After all, he is a deputy. If he were in front of the Ministry of Justice building, we would see him again. He thought the front of our old building on the street looking at Kızılay was the Ministry of Justice and protested there. I wish he had informed us beforehand; I would have invited him to the ministry." he said.
