Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloglu announced the details of the project that will reduce the travel time between Istanbul and Canakkale to 2 hours. Uraloglu stated, 'Last year, we started the construction of the Kinali-Malkara Highway, which will extend the 1915 Canakkale Bridge and the Malkara-Canakkale Highway to Istanbul. Thanks to this road, travel time between Istanbul and Tekirdag will drop to under 1 hour, and the travel time between Istanbul and Canakkale will decrease from 3.5 hours to 2 hours.'
Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu said, "Last year, we also launched the construction work on the Kınalı-Malkara Highway, which will extend the 1915 Çanakkale Bridge and the Malkara-Çanakkale Highway all the way to Istanbul. Thanks to this road, travel time between Istanbul and Tekirdağ will drop to under 1 hour, and travel time between Istanbul and Çanakkale will be reduced from 3.5 hours to 2 hours."
URALOĞLU EXPLAINS LATEST TRANSPORT PROJECTS
Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu attended the opening ceremony of a new ferry terminal in the Gelibolu district of Çanakkale. The terminal has a total area of 43,063 square meters, with parking capacity for 115 trucks and 340 cars. Minister Uraloğlu was accompanied by Çanakkale Governor Ömer Toraman and AK Party Çanakkale Deputy Ayhan Gider.
The program began with a moment of silence followed by the reading of the National Anthem. Minister Uraloğlu stated that they had assessed the latest status of the construction work on the Halkalı-Kapıkule High-Speed Train Line in Çerkezköy and had successfully carried out a test drive. He said: "With the excitement we experienced during the tests of this line, which further strengthens the iron networks of our gateway to Europe, we have now come to Gelibolu, the land of martyrs, and the ancient lands of Çanakkale. While connecting Europe by railway on one hand, we are proud to bring works worthy of this peninsula, where the most glorious pages of our history were written, by modernizing our maritime transportation on the other."
IT WILL TAKE 2 HOURS TO GO FROM ISTANBUL TO ÇANAKKALE
Stating that they have provided fast and high-standard access to the Sarıcaeli-Teknopark Grade-Separated Junction, Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University Technology Campus, and the village of Sarıcaeli, Minister Uraloğlu said: "Last year, we also launched the construction work on the Kınalı-Malkara Highway, which will allow the 1915 Çanakkale Bridge and the Malkara-Çanakkale Highway to reach as far as Istanbul. Thanks to this road, travel between Istanbul and Tekirdağ will be reduced to less than 1 hour, and travel time between Istanbul and Çanakkale will be reduced from 3.5 hours to 2 hours.
More importantly, with the completion of the Kınalı-Malkara Highway, the northern section of the Marmara Highway Ring will be fully connected, ensuring an uninterrupted highway link between the Osmangazi Bridge, Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge, and the 1915 Çanakkale Bridge. As you know, in the Marmara and Aegean regions, which are Turkey's most developed economic areas and home to a significant portion of the population, we have planned a total highway network of 1,255 kilometers around the Marmara Sea within the scope of the Marmara Highway Ring to strengthen the integration of ports, railways, and air transport systems with road transport projects. Currently, 925 kilometers of the Marmara Highway Ring are in service.
Undoubtedly, the Marmara Ring plays a crucial role in Turkey's development drive. But there will be another important benefit: with the completion of the Marmara Highway Ring, not only will travel times be dramatically shortened, but in the event of a possible Istanbul earthquake scenario, the 1915 Çanakkale Bridge will play a much more effective and critical role in the evacuation of Istanbul's western side. Thus, we will have created a strategic insurance policy for the safety of life and property of our people."
