In response to the operations of the US and Israel against Iran, the Tehran administration launched attacks across the region, while the US Consulate in Erbil's air defense systems intercepted and destroyed missiles targeting the city in mid-air.
After the nuclear negotiations between the USA and Iran ended without results, tensions in the region quickly escalated. The Tehran administration responded to the joint operation of the USA and Israel against targets in Iran. The wave of conflict extended to Erbil, the capital of the Iraqi Kurdish Regional Government.
AIR DEFENSE SYSTEMS ACTIVATED IN ERBIL
Following the strikes on numerous Iranian cities, including Tehran, by the USA and Israel, Iran launched attacks against Israel and the military points of the USA in the Middle East. In this context, there was increased activity around the US Consulate in Erbil.
US forces stationed in Erbil detected a missile heading towards the region. According to footage released by Rudaw, the air defense systems belonging to the US Consulate immediately intervened and destroyed the missile in mid-air. The sound of the explosion was heard over a wide area in the city. Officials stated that the missiles did not cause any casualties or property damage.
