In Adana, 95-year-old Türkan İşbilir's daughter, Elmas Erdem, who is alleged to have helped with the forced sale of the land inherited from her father, confronted her mother. Erdem, who claimed that her nephew spent 13 million of the 17 million lira sale price, kissed her mother's hand and denied the accusations against her. Türkan İşbilir, on the other hand, forgave her daughter.
95-year-old Türkan İşbilir, a mother of five living in Adana, was allegedly visited by her grandson G.K. in May, who told her that a contractor had offered 10 apartments for her land in the Şambayadı neighborhood.
İşbilir initially rejected the offer. However, on May 15, G.K. visited his grandmother again and convinced her to sell the land in exchange for 10 apartments.
G.K. then took the elderly woman to the hospital and obtained a mental health report. He then took his grandmother to the land registry office and facilitated the sale of the land to a person named İ.Ö. İşbilir's daughter, Elmas Erdem, was also present during the transactions at the land registry.
17 MILLION LIRA GIVEN INSTEAD OF 10 APARTMENTS
After the signatures were placed, İ.Ö. gave Türkan İşbilir a certain amount of cash and transferred the remaining money to the bank account where the elderly woman receives her retirement pension.
İşbilir then asked her grandson, "Weren't we supposed to get 10 apartments, where did this money come from?" According to the allegations, G.K. replied, "We canceled the apartments and took the money," and took the bag full of money.
It was alleged that G.K. then took his grandmother home, took the bank card she uses to withdraw her pension, activated the mobile banking account on his own phone, and left the house.
ALLEGATION THAT 13 MILLION OF 17 MILLION WAS SPENT IN 20 DAYS
According to the allegations, 13 million liras of the 17 million lira sale price was spent in approximately 20 days.
It was claimed that G.K. used the money for online shopping, purchasing gold from a jeweler, at a liquor store, and buying various products from technology companies.
Türkan İşbilir told her story when her grandchildren Cemile Akkanat and Cengiz Akkanat, children of her deceased child, visited her during Eid al-Adha.
FAMILY HIRES LAWYER AND FILES COMPLAINT
After Eid al-Adha, Cemile and Cengiz Akkanat took their grandmother in and hired a lawyer. The family then went to the prosecutor's office and filed a complaint against Elmas Erdem and G.K.
Before the judicial recess, a precautionary measure was placed on Türkan İşbilir's bank account, and the court will make the final decision on the dispute between the parties.
DAUGHTER DENIES ALLEGATIONS AGAINST HER
In a statement made in recent days, Türkan İşbilir claimed that her daughter Elmas Erdem was also involved in the incident.
Following this statement, Elmas Erdem argued that she had no involvement in the sale of the land inherited from her mother and that her nephew had also deceived her.
Erdem went to her mother, kissed her hand, and said she had done nothing wrong. Türkan İşbilir forgave her daughter. İşbilir stated that her grandson had deceived her into selling her land and that she had been victimized.
"MY NEPHEW DECEIVED MY MOTHER"
Elmas Erdem, who denied the allegations against her, described the events as follows:
"My nephew came and convinced my mother to sell her land in exchange for 10 apartments. My mother accepted the 10 apartments, saying, 'I have 5 children, each will get 2 apartments.' My mother, my nephew, my husband, and I went to the land registry office. First, we got a mental health report, then we went to the land registry. However, after signing at the land registry, the apartment deal was canceled, and they said money was given."
"MICE ROAM IN MY HOUSE"
Erdem, who claimed that her mother's bank card was with G.K., argued that she did not benefit from the 17 million lira sale price.
Erdem said, "The card was with my nephew. He spent all the money. They are slandering me. I didn't buy anything for my house; all the money was with him, and he spent it. He sent millions of lira to his ex-wife and his son studying at university. He shopped a lot for himself. They sued me, and I sued them. Why would I take my mother's land? After my mother, that land will come to me anyway. My nephew spent the money."
Erdem also defended herself by saying, "Mice roam in my house, I didn't buy anything new for my house. My nephew spent all the money."
G.K. ALSO DENIES ALLEGATIONS
G.K., the focus of the allegations regarding the incident, did not accept the accusations directed at him. G.K. claimed that his family was slandering him. After the parties' mutual complaints, the court will decide on the process regarding the 17 million lira land sale.
