With the inflation rate increasing by 2.55% in October, the Revaluation Rate (YDO) for the year 2026 has also been determined. Accordingly, the Motor Vehicle Tax (MTV), passport fees, driver's license fees, taxes, and traffic fines will increase by 25.49% in January 2026.
The inflation figures that will determine the salary, pension, and rent increases have been announced. According to the data released by TÜİK, inflation increased by 2.55% in October, while the annual rate reached 32.87%.
REVALUATION RATE HAS BECOME 25.49%
With the figures announced by TÜİK, the Revaluation Rate has also been determined. Accordingly, the revaluation rate to be applied for taxes, fees, and fines has become 25.49%.
THE LOWEST TRAFFIC FINE WILL INCREASE TO 1,246 TL
In 2025, the amount of the lowest traffic fine applied for violations such as not wearing a seatbelt, not adhering to the following distance, driving without traffic insurance, riding a motorcycle without a helmet, and not giving way will be increased from 993 TL to 1,246 TL.
IMEI REGISTRATION FEE WILL RISE TO 57,241 TL
Accordingly, the IMEI registration fee applicable for phones brought from abroad will rise to 57,241 TL as of January 1, 2026.
DRIVER'S LICENSE FEE WILL BE 7,122 TL
The fee for Class B driver's licenses used by car, minibus, and van drivers will increase from 5,678 TL to 7,122 TL, and the fee for Class A driver's licenses will rise from 1,883 TL to 2,360 TL.
PASSPORT FEE
If the President does not exercise his authority to discount, the passport fees will be as follows:
- Up to 6 months: 2,956 TL
- 1 year: 4,296 TL
- 2 years: 7,065 TL
- 3 years: 10,065 TL
- More than 3 years: 11,146 TL
THE EXIT FEE FOR ABROAD WILL BE 1,255 TL
With the increase made in September, the 'exit fee for abroad' was raised to 1,000 TL. In 2026, this amount will rise to 1,255 TL.
ALL EYES ON ERDOĞAN'S DECISION
The revaluation is calculated based on the 12-month averages in the Producer Price Index (ÜFE). According to the Tax Procedure Law, the President has the authority to reduce the revaluation rate for taxes and fees by up to 50% and to increase it by up to 50%.
