Thousands of Muslims flocked to mosques for Eid al-Adha prayers in Moscow, the capital of Russia. When the mosques could not accommodate them, they lined up in streets, roads, and parks. During the prayers held in open areas, security measures were taken by local police units.
Thousands of Muslims flocked to mosques for Eid al-Adha prayers in Russia's capital Moscow, overflowing onto the streets. Citizens who could not fit into the mosques lined up in streets, avenues, and parks closed to traffic.
Muslims in Moscow went to the Moscow Central Mosque, the Memorial Mosque, and the Historical Mosque for the holiday prayer. Crowds also formed at designated prayer areas in different parts of the city.
THEY PERFORMED PRAYERS ON STREETS AND IN PARKS
Due to lack of space in mosques, thousands performed the Eid prayer in areas closed to traffic. Citizens lined up by spreading the prayer rugs they brought with them on the ground.
Ravil Gaynutdin, Chairman of the Religious Administration of Muslims of the Russian Federation and the Russian Muftis Council, read the Eid al-Adha messages of high-level state officials, especially Russian President Vladimir Putin, during the sermon he delivered at the Moscow Central Mosque.
TURKIYE'S AMBASSADOR TO MOSCOW ALSO ATTENDED
Turkiye's Ambassador to Moscow, Tanju Bilgic, also performed the Eid prayer at the Moscow Central Mosque along with ambassadors from Islamic and Arab countries.
Muslims in Russia performed the Eid prayer and organized various events in many cities, especially Kazan, Ufa, St. Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, Vladivostok, and Grozny.
