The mayor of Güzelbahçe, Mustafa Günay, who was detained in a bribery operation, has been referred to court. According to the expert report, Günay, who also heads the Yarımada Municipalities Union, made 3.5 million liras of irregular expenditures through member municipalities. Additionally, the Zoning Director Özgür Bayraktar was arrested by the judge. The other three individuals were released under judicial supervision.

OPERATION IN GÜZELBAHÇE MUNICIPALITY
According to a statement from the İzmir Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, detention orders were issued for 7 suspects within the scope of the investigation conducted by the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.
Güzelbahçe Mayor Mustafa Günay, his wife Nermin Günay, former Güzelbahçe Mayor Özdem Mustafa İnce, Zoning and Urbanization Director Özgür Bayraktar, and municipal police officer S.K. were detained by gendarmerie teams.
MAYOR ARRESTED
It was stated that among the suspects, municipal council member G.G. and his wife Ş.G., who is an official of a construction company, are abroad, and arrest warrants have been issued for them. Gendarmerie teams conducted a search at the municipal building in the morning hours. Mustafa Günay and Özgür Bayraktar were arrested by the court they were brought before. The other suspects were released under judicial supervision.
MONEY FLOW WAS PROVIDED THROUGH THE MAYOR'S WIFE
It was stated that within the scope of the investigation, there are findings indicating that the current criminal organization has been acting together since 2009, and past investigation records, İzmir Governorship research reports, and expert examinations are included as evidence in the file.
It was learned that the suspects acted in an organized manner to facilitate construction contrary to zoning regulations, prevented the demolition of such structures, and obtained financial benefits in relation to the construction of zoning-violating buildings.
It was expressed that there are receipts regarding the bribery, as well as statements from victims and witnesses, and it was determined that money flow was provided through the company of which Mayor Mustafa Günay's wife is an official.
It was stated that the investigation file also includes statements regarding negotiations for accepting bribes through the company owned by Ş.G., the wife of suspect G.G.
3.5 MILLION LIRA IRREGULAR SPENDING
It was noted that Mustafa Günay was found to be the President of the Peninsula Municipalities Union, and expert determinations indicate that irregular spending, potentially causing 3.5 million lira in public loss, was made through the union via municipal assets.
