US President Trump demanded changes to the uranium and Strait of Hormuz articles in the draft agreement negotiated with Iran. Commenting on the new conditions that caused a stalemate between the parties, Iran stated that the US "betrayed diplomacy."

US President Donald Trump has reportedly requested changes to certain articles in the draft agreement being negotiated between the US and Iran.

According to US officials who spoke to the Axios news platform, Trump made demands for revisions to the draft agreement, which had been reached between the US delegation and Iranian officials, during a meeting held on Friday in the Situation Room at the White House.

Officials suggested that Trump wants the agreement to be concluded quickly, but specifically demanded that the articles regarding Iran's nuclear materials be strengthened.

Officials noted that Trump's demands have initiated a new negotiation process that could last several days between the parties, and claimed that Trump specifically requested more details on articles concerning the control of enriched uranium and its timeline.

Officials also asserted that Trump demanded changes to the wording regarding the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, and stated that the Iranian side is expected to respond to the revision requests within approximately three days.

NYT: TRUMP SENT IRAN A REVISED PROPOSAL WITH HARSHER TERMS

Meanwhile, according to a report by the New York Times (NYT), Trump has sent Iran a revised draft agreement containing harsher terms as part of efforts to end the war.

Unnamed officials claimed that Trump, after changing certain elements of the draft agreement, resubmitted it for Tehran's evaluation.

Officials argued that Trump was uncomfortable with articles that could include the unfreezing of Iranian assets, and expressed that the president was displeased with the speed of Iran's responses in negotiations conducted through various mediators, including Pakistani officials.

IRAN'S REACTION: THE US HAS BETRAYED AGAIN

Advisor to Iran's Leader Mujtaba Khamenei and former Commander-in-Chief of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, Major General Mohsen Rezaei, said that US President Donald Trump has once again "betrayed diplomacy" due to "excessive demands" such as maintaining a naval blockade.

In his message, the advisor to Iran's leader stated: "The US President is betraying diplomacy for the third time. By maintaining the naval blockade and making excessive demands in negotiations, he has once again proven that he is not qualified to negotiate and is pursuing other objectives."
