Key details have emerged in the murder of Mezdeke dancer Aynur Kanbur, killed in Şişli 10 years ago. In the reopened investigation, the attacker's identity was determined thanks to the Istanbulkart used after the incident. It was established that the suspects turned off their phones on the day of the murder and later exchanged messages with each other. With the reopening of the cold case file, significant findings have been made to shed light on the murder.
SHE WAS KILLED IN FRONT OF HER HOME
Aynur Kanbur lost her life in an armed attack at the entrance of her home in Şişli Fulya neighborhood on March 24, 2016. The empty shell casings found at the scene could not be matched with any crime or weapon for years.
The investigation launched after the murder yielded no results for a long time, and the file was re-examined.
CLAIM: "NO BELLY DANCER COMES FROM OUR FAMILY"
One of the notable developments in the investigation was the applications made by Aynur Kanbur's relatives years ago. In a petition submitted by Kanbur's sister, it was alleged that some relatives had threatened her in the past.
According to the claims, the suspects pressured Kanbur by saying, "No belly dancer comes from our family." Following these allegations, the HTS records of the suspects were re-examined.
PHONES WERE TURNED OFF AT THE SAME TIME
Technical examinations revealed that the suspects turned off their phones shortly before the murder and did not turn them on until noon the next day.
One of the suspects was found to have traveled to the USA two days before the incident, but he also kept his phone turned off during the same period.
TRACE OF THE KILLER FOUND ON ISTANBULKART
In studies conducted after the file was reopened, it was discovered that the person who fled after the murder boarded the metrobus in Avcılar.
Examining security camera footage and Istanbulkart usage records, teams identified the person believed to have carried out the attack. The suspect was determined to be Bülent G.
THEY TEXTED AFTER THE MURDER
In the police teams' technical examinations, it was found that Bülent G., like the other suspects, turned off his phone before the incident and turned it on the next day.
It was also determined that he texted the suspect considered to be the instigator immediately after turning on his phone.
LAND DISPUTE DETAIL
It was learned that Aynur Kanbur and the suspects were distant relatives and had shared land among them. Bülent G., believed to have committed the murder, was found to have worked as an insured employee at a company belonging to the other suspects for a period.
3 SUSPECTS IN CUSTODY
In the investigation coordinated by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, an operation decision was made against Bülent G., believed to have committed the murder, and Fazlı K. and Serdar K., alleged to be the instigators.
In a simultaneous operation organized by Istanbul Police Department teams, 3 suspects were taken into custody. The suspects' procedures at the police station continue.
