The suspect, who covered his wife's face with a pillow and shot her in the head, said, "I did it in a moment of anger."
New details have emerged regarding how neighborhood watchman H.E.K. killed his estranged wife, Hatice Mine K., in Adana with a gun in front of their 7-year-old daughter during the divorce process. It was learned that the suspect went to the home under the pretext of dropping off his daughter, had the door opened, struggled with his wife in the living room, covered her face with a pillow, and shot her in the head. The arrested suspect allegedly said in his statement, "I loved my wife, I committed the murder in a momentary fit of anger."
KILLED IN FRONT OF 7-YEAR-OLD DAUGHTER
The incident occurred around 01:00 on the night of July 26 in the Kışla neighborhood of the central Yüreğir district. According to allegations, Hatice Mine K. (40), who worked as a civil servant at the Pozantı Municipality, had decided to divorce her husband, neighborhood watchman H.E.K. (40), due to severe incompatibility. Arriving home in the night hours, H.E.K. covered his wife's face with a pillow and shot her in the head with a gun in front of their 7-year-old daughter, E.Y.K. The suspect fled after the incident but was apprehended by teams from the Provincial Police Department's Public Order Branch Homicide Bureau approximately 30 minutes later at the address where he was hiding.
HAD DOOR OPENED BY DAUGHTER'S VOICE
According to information obtained during the investigation, it was learned that H.E.K. went to his estranged wife's home on the day of the incident under the pretext of dropping off their daughter E.Y.K., and Hatice Mine K. opened the door when her daughter called out. It was reported that the suspect entered the home, struggled with his wife in the living room, then covered her face with a pillow and fired a gun in front of his daughter's eyes.
KILLED THE MOTHER AND LEFT DAUGHTER WITH AUNT
It was learned that after the murder, the suspect took his 7-year-old daughter and left her at his sister's home, then proceeded to the address where he was hiding.
HE ALLEGEDLY LOVED HIS WIFE WHOM HE KILLED
During his interrogation at the police station, H.E.K. reportedly said, "I loved my wife. I only wanted to talk to persuade her to drop the case. I committed the murder in a momentary fit of anger. I wish it hadn't happened this way, I regret it."
After the completion of police procedures, H.E.K. was referred to the courthouse and was arrested by the duty court and sent to prison.
