In the district of Söke in Aydın, Erkan Aslan, the fugitive suspect of an armed attack that took place in a marketplace and resulted in the death of two people, including a pregnant woman, was caught red-handed in Kuşadası in a successful operation by security forces.
HORROR AT THE MARKETPLACE The bloody incident that shook the entire city occurred on May 30 at around 2:00 PM in the closed marketplace located in the Yeni Cami neighborhood of the Söke district. In the armed attack on a car parked in the marketplace, the driver Ercan Zengin was hit by bullets and died at the scene.
PREGNANT WIFE COULD NOT BE SAVED Nurgül Aslan, who was in the vehicle and learned to be the attacker's wife, was 1.5 months pregnant and was seriously injured. The pregnant woman, first taken to Söke Fehime Faik Kocagöz State Hospital and then transferred to Adnan Menderes University Hospital, could not survive despite all interventions by the doctors, along with her baby in her womb.
CAUGHT IN THE AREA HE WAS HIDING After the double murder, security units launched a comprehensive search operation to capture the suspect Erkan Aslan, who had disappeared. As a result of technical and field investigations, it was determined that the suspect was hiding in various locations in Kuşadası. The units tightened the noose and concentrated their efforts in the Davutlar neighborhood of Kuşadası. Following the tracking, fugitive suspect Erkan Aslan was caught and taken into custody in an operation in a field within the borders of Davutlar neighborhood.
Ercan Zengin INTERROGATION CONTINUES: TO BE REFERRED TO COURT Following the capture, the suspect was taken to the police headquarters and the interrogation process began. It was reported that the investigation into the double murder case that plunged Aydın into mourning is being conducted thoroughly and from multiple angles.
