Emphasizing that continuously improving nuclear defense capabilities is a "military and political unchanging task," Kim instructed officials to further strengthen nuclear strategic capacity and increase nuclear production.
As North Korea's policy towards the Donald Trump administration, which took office on January 20, becomes a matter of curiosity, a critical move has come from Pyongyang.

According to a statement from the North Korean administration, the country's leader Kim Jong-un inspected a nuclear material production facility and the Nuclear Weapons Institute. Kim, who received information from officials about the production processes of nuclear materials used in weapon production and the Nuclear Weapons Institute's 2025 goals, emphasized in his speech that 2025 is "critical" for the development of the country's nuclear power. Highlighting that North Korea's nuclear power is developing more and more each day, Kim stated, "Guaranteeing peace and security through power is the most correct and unchangeable option."
KIM: NUCLEAR DEFENSE IS THE ONLY OPTION
Pointing out that the security environment on the Korean Peninsula and its surroundings is becoming increasingly challenging, Kim stated, "Absolute power that can completely deter enemies cannot be achieved through declarations or slogans, but through the development of defense capacity and scientific progress." Expressing that the only indispensable option in the face of the conditions North Korea is in is to "steadily strengthen nuclear defense capacity," Kim said, "Because we bear the responsibility not only for today but also for the future of the country." Emphasizing that continuously improving the country's nuclear defense capacity is a "military and political unchangeable duty," Kim instructed officials to further strengthen nuclear strategic capacity and increase nuclear production.
TRUMP HAD DESCRIBED NORTH KOREA AS A "NUCLEAR POWER"
After taking office, U.S. President Donald Trump described North Korea as a "nuclear power" in a statement, saying about the country's leader Kim Jong-un, "I think he will be happy to see that I have returned to the White House." Most recently, Trump referred to Kim as "a smart man" and stated, "I will contact him again." Trump's statements were interpreted as a signal for a return to diplomacy with North Korea. Nevertheless, the North Korean administration conducted its first weapon test during the Trump administration by testing a guided strategic cruise missile launched from underwater last Sunday.
