US President Donald Trump said at his rally in Florida that a new 'Epic Fury' operation against Iran could be carried out but did not provide details. Speaking as the war approaches its eighth month, Trump described Iran, whose inflation he said was 301 percent, as a 'collapsing country' and reiterated that the US Navy is keeping the Strait of Hormuz closed to Iran.
US President Donald Trump said Washington could launch a new military operation against Iran.
Speaking at a rally in Florida on Friday, Trump said about the war with Iran, "We could carry out another small 'Epic Fury' operation." He did not go into details on the matter.
The US military uses the name "Epic Fury" operation for the war it is waging against Iran.
THE WAR IS APPROACHING ITS EIGHTH MONTH
Trump made these remarks as the war with Iran approaches its eighth month and at a time when rising fuel prices are putting pressure on the US midterm elections.
In an earlier statement the same day, Trump had said the US could end the war quickly, but raised the question of whether Washington should aim for a quick conclusion or allow the conflict to gradually wind down.
Trump, who frequently changes his goals regarding the war, also said in early October that the US would not carry out an attack on Iran before the midterm elections that will determine control of Congress.
HE CALLED IRAN A COLLAPSING COUNTRY
Speaking to reporters as he left the White House for the Florida rally, Trump described Iran as a "collapsing country" and said, "They are struggling with inflation and have no money." Stating Iran's inflation rate as "301 percent," Trump described it as "the highest inflation rate in the world."
HE REPEATED THAT IT CONTROLS THE STRAIT OF HORMUZ
Reiterating that the US controls the Strait of Hormuz, Trump said, "We will extract as much oil from there as we want. Our navy keeps the strait closed to Iran, and everyone else is extracting oil [from the Strait of Hormuz]."
He claimed, "The volume of oil passing through the Strait of Hormuz today is higher than a year ago."
Trump also raised the question, "Do we want to finish this job as soon as possible, or do we want to let them gradually collapse and fall apart?"
