Before the inflation data to be announced in July, the increase rates for millions of citizens have largely become clear. With the addition of the June expectation to the finalized 16.61 percent inflation for the first five months, the raise for SSK and Bağ-Kur retirees is projected to reach 18.40 percent, while for civil servants it is expected to reach 14.10 percent. Under this scenario, the minimum pension is expected to rise to 23,680 TL, and the minimum civil servant salary to 69,341 TL.
Ahead of the June inflation data to be announced in July, the raise rates for millions of retirees and civil servants have largely become clear. With the May data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute, the five-month inflation table has been finalized, and attention now turns to the Central Bank's expectation surveys and the final July raise.
BASED ON FIVE-MONTH INFLATION...
In the first five months of the year, inflation data were recorded as 4.84% in January, 2.96% in February, 1.94% in March, 4.18% in April, and 1.71% in May. Following these figures, the total five-month inflation was recorded as 16.61%. Thus, the July raise of 16.61% for SSK and BAĞ-KUR retirees has already been finalized. For civil servants and retired civil servants, the rate based on the five-month data currently stands at 12.41%.
NEW SCENARIOS ON THE TABLE
According to the Central Bank's Market Participants Survey, the June inflation expectation is forecast at 1.52%. If June inflation aligns with this estimate, the final raise rates to be reflected in salaries in July will also change. In this scenario, when the 7% collective bargaining increase and the inflation difference are taken into account, the raise for civil servants and retired civil servants will reach 14.10%, while the July increase for SSK and BAĞ-KUR retirees will reach 18.40%.
PARLIAMENTARY STEP EXPECTED FOR THE LOWEST RETIREE PENSION
The lowest retiree pension, which started the year with a legal regulation at a base limit of 20,000 TL, will be reshaped with the July raise. For the base pension increase to take effect, a legal regulation must be passed by the Parliament General Assembly. Based on current estimates and finalized figures, the lowest retiree pension is projected to rise to 23,322 TL with only the five-month finalized rate, and to 23,680 TL with the final 18.40% rate when the June estimate is included.
FLAT-RATE SUPPORTED REGULATION FOR CIVIL SERVANT SALARIES
According to data compiled by Önder Yılmaz from Sabah newspaper; in addition to the 14.1% estimated raise for June for civil servants and retired civil servants, flat-rate increases of 1,000 TL will also be reflected in calculations. Accordingly, the lowest civil servant salary for a high school graduate, currently 59,896 TL, will rise to 69,341 TL with the raise and flat-rate difference. While the salary of a university graduate civil servant, currently 62,403 TL, will increase to 72,201 TL in the new period, the lowest retired civil servant pension will rise from 26,889 TL to 31,680 TL.
SOCIAL SUPPORT PAYMENTS ALSO GROWING: WHO WILL GET HOW MUCH?
