Interior Minister Mustafa Çiftçi responded to Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz's statements targeting Turkey through Jerusalem and the Ottoman Empire. Emphasizing that they will not abandon their sensitivities regarding Palestine and Jerusalem, Çiftçi stated, "We will never compromise on raising our voice against the events in Gaza and on this stance."
A response came from Interior Minister Mustafa Çiftçi to the statements made by Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz on his social media account targeting Turkey.
In a previous post, Katz had used harsh words against Turkey, referring to Çiftçi's remarks: "My wish was for Allah to grant me the Governorship of Jerusalem one day."
In his statement, the Israeli Minister said, "Jerusalem is not Constantinople, and the State of Israel is not the crumbling Crusader Empire," and targeted President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan with the words: "Jerusalem has been the capital of the Jewish people for 3,000 years and will remain the capital of Israel forever. The Ottoman Empire you and Erdoğan dream of has collapsed and will never return."
"THOSE UNCOMFORTABLE WITH OUR BOND TO JERUSALEM WILL EMERGE"
Responding to Katz's statements on his social media account, Interior Minister Mustafa Çiftçi emphasized that their stance on Palestine and Jerusalem will not change.
In his post, Çiftçi stated, "There will be those who are disturbed by our sensitivity towards Palestine. There will certainly be those who are uncomfortable with our bond to Jerusalem."
"WE WILL NEVER COMPROMISE"
Referring to the events in Gaza, Çiftçi continued his statement with these words: "There will also be those who are disturbed by our raising our voices against the genocide happening in Gaza before the eyes of humanity. But we will never compromise on this stance."
Katz's statements targeting Turkey and Çiftçi's response have sparked a new debate amid the rising political tensions between the two countries in recent times.
