PUTIN CONGRATULATED, KIM THANKED
According to the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA), Kim responded to a congratulatory message sent by Putin on the occasion of the 81st anniversary of Liberation Day.
In his message, Kim expressed pride in leading the relations between North Korea and Russia, which continue the "history of joint struggle for justice and the valuable traditions of friendship" with Putin.
EMPHASIS ON BILATERAL RELATIONS
Regarding his expectations for the future of relations between the two countries, Kim assessed, "I hope we can together steer a more perfect future for bilateral relations."
Kim also expressed his "unwavering conviction" that Russia will successfully continue its "cause of defending the country's sovereignty, security interests, and territorial integrity."
PUTIN'S CONGRATULATORY MESSAGE
In his congratulatory message, Russian President Putin stated that relations between his country and North Korea have reached an unprecedentedly high level in terms of comprehensive strategic partnership.
North Korea and Russia deepened their relations in 2024 by signing a comprehensive strategic partnership agreement. The agreement paved the way for North Korea to provide military support to Moscow in the Russia-Ukraine War.
On August 14, Kim attended a ceremony held to commemorate Soviet soldiers who fought against Japan during World War II.
