Beşiktaş Football Director Önder Özen stated that they are conducting transfer operations under three headings and focusing on meeting the team's urgent needs in the first phase, saying, 'There are three names we are approaching the final in transfers for.'
Beşiktaş held their first training session of the season at the Ümraniye BJK Nevzat Demir Facilities as part of their new season preparations. Before the training, Beşiktaş Football Director Önder Özen made statements to the press.
''WE HAVE AGREED WITH TWO OF THE THREE PLAYERS'' Özen stated that they evaluate Beşiktaş's transfer planning under three headings: mandatory needs, reinforcements to strengthen the team, and one or two opportunity transfers that can be made if the cost-performance balance is suitable. He said, "I don't know the names on the agenda exactly because my phone is off, but there are three names we are close to finalizing. We have divided the transfer period into three. The first stage is mandatory needs. There are vacant positions. We called those mandatory needs. Those mandatory needs must be addressed. We focused on those areas. There are three players we are very close to finalizing. We have agreed with two of the three players themselves. We have agreed with the club of one. We will wait to reach an agreement with him. The World Cup complicates things a bit. Because many club managers or authorized signatories—presidents, sporting directors, club lawyers, legal departments—are in various states of the United States. Some players are there, some clubs are in Europe, and others are on different continents. But currently, clubs all over the world are split into three or four, scattered across continents due to the World Cup in the USA. That's why things are moving a bit slowly. Because clubs are not taking steps. They are not taking steps either to buy or sell. We actually agreed with the players long ago. But one has a transfer of ownership at their club. The club has been sold. We waited for the transfer process to finish. It was completed towards the end of last week. The new management has just sat down at the table. They are first checking their own accounts and books. Then they will get back to us regarding our offer. We think we are in a strong position there. Because the player is under our control. When the new management sits down at the table, we will conclude it quickly."
''WE ARE ALSO EVALUATING THEM'' Continuing his speech, Önder Özen said, "In another club, the CEO transferred to another very big club. We had started negotiations with him. Now we will wait for the appointment of a new CEO. After that appointment, we will try to speed things up quickly at the club. After these mandatory needs are completed in the first stage, the second part of the transfer will be to strengthen the team. We will make transfers to have stronger players in the positions we have, a more alternative squad, and a wide rotation. In the final stage—what other clubs call opportunity transfers, though we don't call them that—if we see the cost-benefit overlap, we may make one or two moves in that part where we can turn the cost-performance equation in our favor. For now, this is where we are. Of course, there are also players who will leave or have already left. There are players you don't see today. Offers are coming for some of them. We are also evaluating them."
''ONE OF THE THREE PLAYERS WILL DEFINITELY BE IN THE CAMP'' Önder Özen stated that two of the three players with whom the black-and-whites have reached an agreement cannot join the Slovakia camp because they are playing in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, but one of the players may join the camp. He said, "There is no chance for the two to make it because they are at the World Cup. Due to being there, they have no chance to come to Slovakia. But they will join the team. Their contracts will be ready for Slovakia. The signing of their contracts will take place while we are there, while the team is there. But the players cannot be there. The other one will definitely be in the camp. Maybe even before we go there. We'll wait and see."
