AK Party Spokesperson Ömer Çelik evaluated the Libyan House of Representatives’ approval of the Maritime Jurisdiction Areas Agreement signed with Turkey. Describing the approval as “the registration of our historical and legal legitimacy,” Çelik argued that the agreement is based on solid legal foundations. Çelik emphasized that no initiative that ignores the rights of Turkey and Libya in the Eastern Mediterranean can succeed.
AK Party Spokesperson Ömer Çelik made a statement on his social media account after the Maritime Jurisdiction Areas Agreement between Türkiye and Libya was approved by the Libyan House of Representatives.
“THIS IS THE CONFIRMATION OF OUR LEGITIMACY”
In his statement, Çelik said: “The approval by the Libyan House of Representatives of the Maritime Jurisdiction Areas Agreement signed with Türkiye is the confirmation of our historical and legal legitimacy. This agreement rests on solid legal foundations with regard to the protection of the rights of Türkiye and Libya.”
“IMPOSITIONAL APPROACHES ARE INVALID FOR US”
Also addressing objections to the agreement, Çelik said: “Statements and impositional approaches that ignore the realities on the ground and the principles of law are invalid for us. Under the leadership of our President, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, we will strongly defend our rights in the Blue Homeland and the rights of the brotherly Libyan people.”
“THE FUTURE OF THE REGION WILL NOT BE SHAPED BY IMPOSITIONS”
In his assessment of developments in the Eastern Mediterranean, Çelik stated: “No illegitimate attempt that disregards the rights of Türkiye and brotherly Libya in the Eastern Mediterranean can succeed. The future of the region will be shaped not by impositions, but by equity and cooperation.”
