After the ceremony held for the Deputy Speaker of the Parliament, Sırrı Süreyya Önder, a new development has emerged regarding the attack on CHP Chairman Özgür Özel. The owner of the guesthouse where the attacker, Selçuk Tengioğlu, was staying in Beyoğlu has been detained.
The chairman of the CHP, Özgür Özel, was attacked by the criminal machine Selçuk Tengioğlu in front of the AKM, and while the detention period was extended, a new development regarding the investigation occurred.
The owner of the guesthouse where Tengioğlu was staying was also detained. Footage from the hotel in Beyoğlu where Tengioğlu stayed before the attack had emerged. In the footage, Tengioğlu is seen drinking tea and chatting.
HTS RECORDS AND A REPORT FROM MASAK WERE ALSO REQUESTED
As part of the investigation initiated by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office after the attack, a report was requested from the Financial Crimes Investigation Board (MASAK) regarding the suspect's HTS records and account activities from the Information Technologies and Communications Authority (BTK).
WHAT HAD HAPPENED?
After the memorial ceremony held for the Deputy Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey and Istanbul MP of the DEM Party, Sırrı Süreyya Önder, Özel was punched by an attacker who approached him as he was leaving the AKM. It was determined that the suspect, who was detained by police while Özel was leaving the area under the protection of bodyguards and security measures, was Selçuk Tengioğlu (66).
HE BRUTALLY MURDERED HIS 2 CHILDREN
The suspect, taken to the Beyoğlu District Police Department, was sent to the Istanbul Public Order Branch after his procedures there. It was revealed that the suspect, against whom an investigation was initiated by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, had been sentenced to life imprisonment for killing his daughter M.T. (15) and son B.T. (17) in İskenderun, Hatay on May 9, 2004, and for injuring his younger daughter G.T. (11), and that he had been released from prison on conditional parole in 2020. It was learned that the suspect had no connection to any political party or organization and that no findings regarding his mental health had been found.
