Former CHP Chairman Deniz Baykal and the defendants in the "tape conspiracy" case involving MHP officials, former police chief Hayati Başdağ, who is a fugitive from FETÖ, has been captured. Başdağ was arrested by the court he was brought before.

FORMER POLICE CHIEF ARRESTED
The Istanbul Police Department's Counter-Terrorism and Intelligence Branches, in coordination with the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, conducted an operation in which former police chief Hayati Başdağ, who was wanted in connection with FETÖ cases, was located in Fatih. Başdağ, who was captured in the police operation, was arrested by the court he was brought before.
It was learned that Başdağ, who was dismissed from his profession as part of the FETÖ investigation and arrested in 2014, was released in 2020. It was also learned that there are arrest warrants against Başdağ for "membership in an armed terrorist organization" and "illegally recording personal data" issued by the Ankara 14th Heavy Penal Court, Istanbul 14th Heavy Penal Court, and Istanbul 65th Criminal Court.
ONE OF THE DEFENDANTS IN THE "TAPE CONSPIRACY" CASE
It has been determined that Başdağ, who was found to have used FETÖ's encrypted messaging application ByLock, participated in organizations within the so-called structure of the organization at the Police Academy, and there are statements indicating that he was a "person who received a rank from Fetullah Gülen" in the rank organization given by the leader of the organization.
Hayati Başdağ is among the defendants in many cases, including FETÖ's "illegal wiretapping and espionage," "setup against the Tahşiyeciler," and the "tape conspiracy" against former CHP leader Deniz Baykal and former MHP officials.
