Avcı stated, "I served as a headman for two terms, and it has been 2.5 years since I left that role. It was time to step into politics; perhaps I was a bit late, but because I love clean politics, I will continue with politics for the rest of my life. I had friends working in the Huzur Party Bingöl organization; they brought us this offer, and we accepted it. I do not want to stray from the party's line, and from now on, we will begin working for my hometown."

Avcı, who noted that he has kept his mustache long and bushy for 20 years, stated that he regularly visits the barber for maintenance. He said, "When I was appointed to Karlıova in line with the general headquarters, we contacted the local newspaper in Karlıova, and they made my appointment a news item. I entered politics as a headman in 2004. It wasn't easy, but I managed 550 households in my village. Even when I became a headman, my mustache was like this, and some said, 'You're a civil servant now as a headman; you'll get negative reactions.' I never faced any backlash from any state institution, and I have loved my mustache for 20 years."

Avcı continued, "It wasn't because of any particular idea; I grew my mustache simply because it suited me, and it made news worldwide. I follow the news; unfortunately, we became a topic with long mustaches. I see that people from places like Germany, France, Italy, and China are following us, and that is a source of pride for us and our country. I am proud of my country, my homeland, and myself.
