“THIS DECISION IS POLITICAL”
In a statement from his X account, Özel emphasized that Erkol had been involved in the management of a cooperative in İzmir in the past but did not have signing authority. Claiming that the arrest decision is political, Özel stated, “Everyone knows that Ümit Erkol would not have been arrested if he were not the CHP Ankara Provincial Chairman.”
