After the court's "absolute nullity" decision, the CHP sent a letter to the Speaker of the Turkish Grand National Assembly stating that Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu is the party chairman, and following this, the nameplate on Özgür Özel's office door in the Parliament was changed. A sign reading "Republican People's Party Group Chairman" was placed at the entrance of the office. Özel, who arrived at the Parliament, announced that he would meet with the DEM Party delegation and assess the process with the party's Central Executive Committee members.
The title at Özgür Özel's office in the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM), who was removed from the CHP General Chairmanship post by a court decision, has been changed. A sign reading 'Republican People's Party Group Chairman' was hung at the entrance of the office.
A LETTER WAS SENT TO THE TBMM
It was learned that the change was made after the CHP sent a letter to the TBMM Presidency stating that Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu is the General Chairman, following the court's 'absolute nullity' decision.
ÖZEL: WE WILL EVALUATE THE PROCESS
Özgür Özel, who arrived at the TBMM, made assessments regarding the upcoming process. Stating that they will receive the DEM Party delegation, Özel said they will hold meetings with the deputy group chairs and MYK members.
"WE HAD A PLAN TO STAY AT THE HEADQUARTERS"
Özel also stated that he will meet with provincial and district mayors, adding that they have not yet finalized their holiday program. Özel said, 'We had a plan to stay at the Headquarters during the holiday. Now we will discuss it.'
WHAT HAD HAPPENED?
Police teams entered the party building to notify the decision of the Ankara Regional Court of Justice regarding the CHP congress case and to ensure the evacuation of the CHP Headquarters.
Following the Ankara Governorship's instruction to the Ankara Police Department for the evacuation of the CHP Headquarters in line with the court decision, police teams began negotiation attempts with party members.
After speaking with CHP Deputy Murat Emir and those with him in the Headquarters garden, police teams waited for a while and then began preparations to enter the Headquarters building.
Party members in the Headquarters garden threw water and glass bottles at the teams who broke down the iron garden gate to enter. Police teams used tear gas to intervene with the party members in the garden and building, entering the Headquarters.
After the evacuation of the CHP Headquarters, Özel, who left the headquarters, moved toward the Parliament along with some deputies and party members.
