Özgür Özel set a time and made a call: I invite everyone who loves their country to resist

A new call came from Özgür Özel, who was removed from his position as CHP General Chairman by the decision of the Ankara Regional Court of Justice 36th Civil Chamber. Inviting citizens to the CHP Headquarters tonight at 20:30, Özel stated, "This coup is not CHP's issue. It is the nation's issue! Tonight, I invite everyone who loves their country to resist and rewrite history."

The decision of the Ankara Regional Court of Appeals 36th Civil Chamber regarding the CHP's 38th Ordinary Congress fell like a bombshell on the political agenda. After the court evaluated the congress process under the scope of "absolute nullity" and Özgür Özel was removed from his position as CHP Chairman, he made a series of striking statements.

ÖZEL'S NEW CALL TO CITIZENS

Following the decision, Özel held an extraordinary meeting at CHP Headquarters and called on citizens, inviting everyone to gather in front of CHP Headquarters tonight at 20:30.

"THE ISSUE IS THE NATION'S ISSUE"

In his statement, Özel said, "This coup is not the CHP's issue. The issue is the nation's issue! Tonight, I invite everyone who loves their country to resist and rewrite history."

COURT REJECTED THE OBJECTION

The Ankara Regional Court of Appeals 36th Civil Chamber had decided to annul the CHP's 38th Ordinary Congress, held on November 4-5, 2023, on the grounds that it was flawed by "absolute nullity." The court's ruling stipulated that former CHP Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu and previous party bodies should continue their duties.

Following the decision, CHP Headquarters filed a legal objection against the injunction. However, the Ankara Regional Court of Appeals 36th Civil Chamber rejected the application.

KILIÇDAROĞLU'S FIRST MOVE: DISMISSED 3 LAWYERS

Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, who returned to the CHP Chairmanship seat with the absolute nullity decision, made his first move. Kılıçdaroğlu dismissed three CHP lawyers, Çağlar Çağlayan, Mehmetcan Keysan, and Hazar Kardaş, via a "letter of dismissal." It was reported that these lawyers had been conducting the legal processes related to the congress cases on behalf of the CHP.

KILIÇDAROĞLU WENT TO HIS OFFICE

Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, who returned to duty with the court decision, left his home. Although it was wondered whether he would go to Headquarters, Kılıçdaroğlu went to his office and made no statement.

CHP APPLIED TO THE SUPREME ELECTION BOARD (YSK)

CHP Chairman Özgür Özel, in his statement yesterday, announced that they made their first legal objection against the "absolute nullity" decision to the Court of Cassation and declared they would also apply to the Supreme Election Board (YSK). It was learned that CHP's YSK representative, Mehmet Hamidi Yakupoğlu, submitted an official application to the YSK this morning.

"WE DO NOT ACCEPT THE DECISION"

Following Özel's night press conference and speech from the election bus, some party members remained at the headquarters, while those who left returned to the headquarters in the morning.

CHP Deputy Group Chairman Murat Emir said, "The real place where this decision will be weighed is the conscience of our people. Politics is made for and with the people. We know, see, and feel that millions of our people are behind us. Therefore, this wrong decision will be reversed by the conscience of the people. We do not find this wrong, unjust, and unlawful decision of the Palace correct and we do not accept it.

We are at our father's home, we are here. We continue our resistance together with millions. We have made our application to the YSK because it was the YSK that gave us these credentials. These congresses were held under the supervision and control of the YSK. Therefore, if the YSK is to continue its existence with dignity from now on, it must stand by its own decisions and put an end to this unlawfulness at the constitutional level," he said.
