While the Constitutional Court rejected the request to invalidate the name "New Party" of the Innovation Party, this decision also thwarted the plans of Innovation Party Leader Öztürk Yılmaz, who aimed to negotiate a presidential candidacy with Özgür Özel.

The Constitutional Court (AYM) rejected the application by the Innovation Party for the invalidation of the name and emblem of the political party founded under the name "New Party" and for its closure. With this ruling by the High Court, the legal obstacle to the New Party continuing to use its current name and emblem has been removed.

ÖZTÜRK YILMAZ'S BARGAINING PLANS FELL THROUGH

Following the ruling, the political calculations of Öztürk Yılmaz, leader of the Innovation Party, who took the process to court citing name similarity and aimed to sit at the bargaining table with CHP Chairman Özgür Özel during the presidential candidacy process, also came to nothing. After the Constitutional Court's rejection, a legal end was put to the name crisis between the two parties.

FIRST STATEMENT FROM ÖZGÜR ÖZEL

New Party leader Özgür Özel made a statement after the Constitutional Court’s ruling. Özel said, “The nation established and founded it in the streets, squares, homes and villages. We continue on our path."

Here is the full text of Özel's statement;

"The nation said, found the New Party, found the new party. We founded it, we did not look for any name. We said if our nation says new party, then it will be a new party. At that time, our friends had already looked into it with meticulous work. Whether such a name exists, whether it would be similar to another name, and we made our application. The Ministry of the Interior accepted it.

Then those who deliberately wanted to open the new party up for debate, remember all the things that were said, they did not act carefully, it was obvious this would happen, and so on. We received opinions from Turkey's academics who have worked most on this confusion issue and whose views are most widely accepted, and they said there is absolutely no similarity. We had submitted this to the Constitutional Court as well. Last month, as you know, while everyone was predicting disaster, I had said that there is a very positive opinion and we will go to the Constitutional Court, we will not change our name.

And we had said we believe the name of the new party will remain New Party. Today, the Constitutional Court has ruled in this direction. May it be auspicious. Nothing can happen despite the nation, despite the nation.

If the nation has named the party, because those who are uncomfortable with the rise of the new party want this. The nation will not let anyone change it. Thank you very much, may it be auspicious. To meet in the new party at the elections and to make everyone smile in the new party government after the election. We continue on our path."
